ATHLETE PROFILE: Brian Reilly

Nicola Performance Training wants to take the opportunity to celebrate those who train and work within the walls of The Dungeon!
In our first ever athlete profile we would like to highlight Brian Reilly from the class of 2008! Not only is he a man of strong character and integrity, but he is a very compassionate and respectful person! If you have ever spoken with him for more than 10 seconds, you will fall in love with this man! 
The only thing stronger than Brian's physical abilities is his heart! That is why we at The Dungeon have ultimate respect for him! 
Brian was kind enough to take a few minutes this past month to interview with me, and I would like to share part of his journey!

Mentally Tired vs. Physically Tired

Winter = cold = achy = miserable = not training!

When you wake up from a long nights rest, and it feels like a 20 minute cat nap it just means you are like the rest of us! No one hears an alarm, pops up with a smile and goes with their day... There is that moment of 'do I hit the snooze', 'it's morning already?', and 'I don't want to get up yet'! 

In the midst of cold/flu season and heavy snowfall, it is almost impossible to tell if your body is sore, hurt, or sick! The easy way to handle this is to do NOTHING! But who gets better doing nothing? NO ONE!

When you are mentally tired, it is easy to conceive that your body needs rest and to skip training. Unfortunately your body does not agree, if you take days off your overall health steadily declines rather than  improve! 

So, what should one do? 

If you are physically tired, one workout will prove that your body needs rest!

However, if you are mentally tired..... One workout will prove that it was all in your head. The buzz that comes from training, the over feeling of well being, the mental fatigue, all a thing of the past! 

What does this prove to us? Training provides positives not only for your mood, but high functioning/performance of energy systems in the body! Not to mention continuing to train will further elevate your chances of success in sport!
Never skip a day!

It is time for Nicola Performance Training to become a household name! To become a movement for inspiration and success! It starts with an idea, and quickly burns itself to action! These Hands - Part 2

'Tuff Hands' are frowned upon, but everyone must realize that these same hands that people do not like are earned through blood, sweat, tears, and sacrifice! Hands do not come standard at birth, those hardened an callused palms are a result of HARD WORK!
 When meeting someone with hard hands you should ask them a question or two because you might learn something from them. These hands built the skyscrapers, the bridges, the roads, and the railways you use every day! These hands are the only thing that make us the superior race (on land) and these hands will continue to work for us! Today we make a salute to hands! Without them...... We would be elephants!

Due to heavy snowfall the Dungeon will be closed today (Tuesday - 1/21) and we will resume tomorrow (Wednesday - 1/22) pending the weather permits it! If school is cancelled than training will be cancelled! Be safe, and Stay Training My Friends!
